 Got Art?

Have you seen the latest art exhibit at Frisco Arts Center?    Chances are, if you’ve visited downtown, you’ve gotten to see a world class exhibit right here in Frisco!  The Visual Arts Guild of Frisco has been busy hosting great art shows this year, with several more planned for 2010.

In March, VAGF sponsored their Spring Member Show, “Getting to Know You,” giving their members a chance to showcase their latest art work.  The walls were filled with paintings, drawings, photography and mixed media art work.  April brought a very successful Juried Photography Show, with artists from all over North Texas participating.  The Arts Center was packed with visitors during the Artists Reception as they enjoyed the art and live music.  During the months of May and June, the Guild will host the Frisco ISD Faculty & Staff Art Show, featuring art work by FISD employees.  The Artists Reception for that show is Saturday, May 8, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Frisco Arts Center, and everyone is invited.

Upcoming exhibits for this year include more member shows, a collaboration show with Texas Visual Arts Association, and, of course, participation in the Frisco Arts Festival in October!

In addition to all of their exhibits, VAGF also has great educational lectures and workshops.  Their ongoing “Art Talk” series features local professional artists, who give insight about their art and their journey as artists.   Other activities include hands-on creativity exercises, painting nights, critique circles and informal trading card workshops, with more classes in the works for upcoming months.

The Visual Arts Guild has seen a lot of growth over the past year, doubling in membership.  The group is comprised of professional artists, hobbyists, students, art historians, designers, collectors, and art lovers from Frisco and the surrounding communities.
